Paul and I went to Dr. Fisch’s office for our first OB ultrasound on December 17th. At 6 weeks and 6 days I was feeling every early pregnancy symptom and had no doubts as to what we would see but Paul was still pretty nervous. He sat next to me while my legs were up in the air, something that is still so weird to me!
First came the picture. We could clearly see the dark circle in my uterus and the accompanying yolk sac. There our little baby was! After all of the injections and pills and emotional craziness (mainly on my part) we were finally able to see our little growing bean. Dr. Fisch took a measurement and baby Williams measured at 6 weeks and 3 days.
Then Dr. Fisch flipped a switch and we were able to hear the most beautiful sound, the baby’s heartbeat. I listened to Savannah’s dozens of times during my pregnancy with her and each time was special. This was just as magical. It’s obviously still really early to be celebrating and Paul doesn’t seem as excited as I am. We still have one more ultrasound in two weeks before we’ll be released from Dr. Fisch’s amazing care.
For now I’ll let Paul do all of the worrying, I did enough of that during the time that I bled. Our final checkup is scheduled for December 30th and I feel 100% positive that we’re in the clear. I feel so blessed that our first round of IVF was successful and I credit that success to not only our great doctor but also to my young age. If we had waited a couple more years we might not have this success, and to that, I am so very grateful.
